The heartbeat of Swiss Woods, our country inn in Lancaster County, is the huge sandstone fireplace with windows all around. Nature is a focal point of the Inn, and every season is visible from this room. In winter when the snow flies, the fireplace radiates its warmth.
The Biedermeier sofas are the perfect spot to curl up with a good book or a board game. Bookcases filled with an eclectic mix of reading material line the walls. Books are a real love of the innkeepers, and they have tons of every genre.
Breakfast is also served here. Hot coffee awaits the early riser who wants to walk in the quiet of the woods or to sit and watch the flickers play on a tree beside the patio and listen to the mourning doves as the sun rises. Enjoy a breakfast fit for kings prepared with fresh local foods. Produce from the Inn's garden and fruits from the orchard are featured in variety of entrees.
Fresh quiches backed with herbs from the herb bed, cobblers chock full of fresh cherries from our trees or berries from the garden, or the best crispy, fried hash browns from our own potatoes are just a few of the immensely popular breakfast items. Baked Oatmeal is a huge hit when we serve it often layered with fresh berries. Afternoon snacks include our renowned biscotti, and a selection of cranberry cookies with brown-butter glaze, orange bundt cakes, lime coconut triangles, or double-chocolate squares. We love to bake, and it shows! A wide selection of tea and coffee are available to complement the afternoon sweets.
On the sideboard you will find a huge variety of loose teas. We love for you to try these out with our tea makers. For those of you who fall in love with a specific tea while you are here take heart, you can now order them from our online store. Our own toffee and biscotti are availabe here as well.
A guest kitchen is an added plus for vacation travelers with coolers. Take a part of Lancaster and Amish Country home with you from the local farmers' markets. The refrigerator makes it easy to store your purchases until you leave for home.
Business travelers will find everything close at hand in our guest office. Two computers with DSL access as well as a printer and workspace are available in an office with French doors leading out to a patio.
